The Dogs of Chernobyl 36 Years Later: A Story of Hope and Resilience

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Clarendon Hills Public Library

Event Details

We welcome animal behaviorist Stephen Quandt to share the story of his visit to Chernobyl 36 years after the nuclear disaster to participate in a spay/neuter and research campaign for the dogs that were descended from the pets left behind after the nuclear plant disaster of 1986. With many personally shot photos and videos he will tell the story of meeting the inhabitants of the mostly abandoned town of Chernobyl City (you will meet 2 squatters, one a hero of the disaster), the totally abandoned city of Pripyat and the dogs (and some cats!) that he encountered

In this funny, heartwarming and emotionally uplifting presentation, you’ll learn about the incredible animals who survived, and Stephen’s work with them. This is a story for all animal lovers and lovers of heroism. This is a virtual program via Zoom. Please register to receive Zoom link.
